Local Heritage
The development and restoration of the historic Bideford Arts Centre to transform the old building into a new library and community ‘hub’. We have preserved and restored all original features such as windows, doors, staircase, skirting, architraves and roof timbers. Where necessary our Joinery Workshop replicated original features with new timber components to complete the restoration.
The internal spaces to the first floor have been remodelled for the library and a lift has been installed to ensure mobility access to all levels. During the restoration in what was originally two classrooms of an art school a floor covering was removed to expose an original parquet floor. This was carefully removed by hand and following substructure works was relaid and sealed.
